My Dad would call the inspiration for building this website and writing this blog as a “two-fa.”

I was inspired by wanting to trumpet the incredible good fortune of my brother Mark for winning a five star Safari in South Africa and I had an opportunity to pay tribute to my all-time favorite author, Ernest Hemingway.

Hemingway’s stories of adventure to Africa and beyond led to a lifetime love of reading and I have a degree in literature and background in journalism in large part to his influence.

While I’m not sure if a safari to South Africa is in my future, it’s on my bucket list.

Until then I’ll be living vicariously through Mark and Missy, who were lucky enough to go.
